Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Stress Engineer to join our aerospace division in Bristol, specialising in aircraft structures. You will play a critical role in supporting our clients by delivering high-quality structural analysis, ensuring designs meet stringent safety, certification, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities

Perform detailed stress analysis of aircraft primary and secondary structures using classical methods and finite element analysis (FEA).

Conduct static, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments in accordance with relevant airworthiness requirements.

Support the development and validation of structural concepts, modifications, and repairs.

Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation for both internal stakeholders and external clients/regulatory authorities.

Work closely with design, manufacturing, and certification teams to resolve structural challenges.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience Required

Degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Proven experience as a Stress Engineer within the aerospace industry, ideally with a focus on aircraft structures.

Strong capability in hand calculations and finite element modelling/analysis (e.g. NASTRAN, PATRAN, HyperMesh, Abaqus).

Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance methodologies.

Familiarity with civil or military aircraft certification requirements (EASA/FAA/DEF-STAN).

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

Strong communication skills, with experience in producing clear and concise technical documentation.
