If you’re an experienced Purchasing professional looking for a role where your expertise drives results, MD Helicopters is looking for you. We are currently seeking a Buyer II to join our Supply Chain team and help support our mission of delivering world-class rotorcraft solutions.

As a Buyer II, you will manage procurement of raw materials, components, assemblies, and services while ensuring schedules, budgets, and compliance standards are met. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects that require initiative, analytical thinking, and strong independent judgment—all while collaborating with a highly skilled team.


What You’ll Do
  • Execute purchase orders (50), distribute RFQs/RFPs (25), expedite and track materials (15), and participate in supplier development/cost reduction activities (10).

  • Lead purchasing activities from proposals and purchase orders to supplier negotiations and contract management.

  • Partner with Program Managers, Finance, Engineering, and Manufacturing to support competitive bidding, supplier selection, and contract awards.

  • Manage supplier relationships—resolving discrepancies, monitoring performance, and driving cost, quality, and delivery improvements.

  • Conduct market analysis, cost modeling, and supplier development initiatives to enhance performance and reduce costs.

  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to procurement policies, procedures, and Lean process enhancements.


What We’re Looking For
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree required (Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or related preferred) with 2–4 years of relevant experience; aerospace/OEM procurement experience a plus.

  • Technical Skills: Experience with MRP/ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred), strong Microsoft Office skills, ability to interpret engineering drawings and supplier contracts.

  • Core Strengths: Negotiation expertise, problem-solving ability, process improvement mindset (Lean/Six Sigma knowledge preferred), and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional Attributes: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to build trust with suppliers and cross-functional teams.


Certifications (Preferred)
  • CPM, CPSM, or CSM certifications in supply management.


Work Environment
  • Office and factory settings with occasional exposure to shop environment (noise, dust, fumes).

  • Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs; regular sitting, standing, and movement required.

  • Less than 5 travel.

Job Requirements:

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience and understanding of an MRP / ERP system (preferably JD Edwards) preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills required.
  • General understanding of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite. (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret MRP reports, purchase requisitions, RFQ’s, and supplier contracts.
  • Ability to understand engineering processes and interpret engineering drawings.
  • The successful candidate must be aggressive but yet professional on behalf of the company and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to generate quantitative improvements in supplier delivery, quality, and costs is very desirable.
  • Ability to work in a global environment and build trust with variety of cultures.
  • Self-motivated, persistent, hands-on, result oriented, well organized with ability to handle multiple projects within expected time frame.
  • Must be proactive and have a sense of urgency to meet the demands of all customers and have the ability to think ahead of potential problems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organization skills are required.
  • The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
  • Access to Export Control Information.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year College or University required, with 2-4 years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferences will be given to: 1) Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology/Management, Finance and Accounting Degrees. 2) Specific military or commercial Aerospace or OEM airframer procurement experience.

Purchasing and supply management profession certifications such as: Institute of Supply Management's CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management), The Certified in Supply Management (CSM) preferred.
