The salary range for this position is $32.00 to $35.00 per hour.

 

Job Overview:

 

We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Programmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for lathe & Mill-turn machines to produce precision components, primarily for aerospace and defense applications. The position requires expertise in using Siemens NX software, along with a deep understanding of machining processes, materials, and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Interpretation: Create, read, and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models, ensuring clear communication of machining requirements.
  • Technical Drawings: Interpret and analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining operations and sequences.
  • Program Development: Create and optimize CNC Lathe programs using Siemens NX CAM software to produce complex aerospace and defense components.
  • Tool Selection: Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job, ensuring machine capabilities align with part specifications.
  • Tooling & Fixtures: Select and install appropriate tooling for each job and design/create custom fixtures when necessary
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, machine setups, modifications, and test results.
  • Setup and Testing: Generate documentation to set up CNC lathe machines, perform test runs, and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet specified quality and tolerance standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and quality control teams to resolve technical issues and improve machining processes.
  • Supervision: Oversee CNC operators, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality checks on finished products using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with part specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in CNC programming and machining technologies to improve production efficiency and quality.
  • Compliance: Ensure all machining operations comply with safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.

Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • An Associate’s degree in CNC programming, machine tool technology, or a related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in CNC lathe programming, up-to 5-axis experience.
  • Experience in the aerospace, defense, or medical industries is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Siemens 840D, Fanuc and Mazak controls
  • Mill-turn experience is a plus.

Software Proficiency:

  • Proficient in Siemens NX CAM software
  • Working knowledge in CATIA V5.
  • Familiarity with any other CAD/CAM software is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and quality control standards.
  • Experience in creating and optimizing complex CNC programs for precision machining.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and optimize machining operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of precision and quality.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with occasional overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, machinery, and potential hazards, while adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support sister manufacturing sites.
