Inventory and Logistics Coordinator JMO
Job Description:
Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

We’re seeking a hands-on Inventory and Logistics Coordinator to join our Dayton, OH team. In this role, you’ll oversee inventory management, logistics operations, and receiving activities, ensuring accurate stock levels and smooth material flow. This position involves physical tasks, including heavy lifting, and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels, conduct audits, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Oversee inventory storage, labeling, and movement to optimize space and accessibility.
  • Verify incoming shipments, inspect materials for quality, and maintain proper documentation.
  • Safely operate material-handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) for unloading, moving, and storing goods.
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely delivery and compliance with schedules.
  • Work with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to align inventory levels with operational demands.
  • Track and report key logistics metrics, including inventory accuracy, shipping costs, and efficiency improvements.
  • Identify and implement strategies to streamline logistics, receiving, and inventory workflows.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed based on business demands.
Required
  • 4+ years of experience in logistics, inventory management, or receiving roles.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.), inventory management tools, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including procurement, warehousing, transportation, and inventory control.
  • Expertise in inventory management techniques, including cycle counting, stock reconciliation, and demand planning.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) regularly, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with shipping and receiving procedures, freight carrier coordination, customs compliance, and order fulfillment processes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
Desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in early-phase pilot production and manufacturing of complex parts.
  • Cost optimization mindset, with the ability to identify ways to reduce storage, shipping, and procurement costs without sacrificing efficiency.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, including bills of material (BOM) and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Relevant certifications, such as APICS CPIM/CSCP, forklift operation certification, or Lean/Six Sigma experience.
