Magellan Aerospace Blackpool has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Inspector.
- Full Time, Permanent Position
- 40 hours per week
- Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 4:30pm / Friday 7:30am – 1:30pm
- Job location: Blackpool Business Park, Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool, FY4 2RP
- Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.

Responsible for all aspects of product and process and support when required. To support the internal decision-making process specific to those duties and responsibilities as detailed below. Will provide relevant hands-on support to all operational team members.

Essential Responsibilities
- Take a lead role in providing direct hands-on support to the team utilising relevant equipment. This will include but not be limited to:-
- 1st off
- Live product queries
- MRB disposition and support feedback
- Customer Escape returns
- Liaise with the production and CMM teams to ensure that the inspection of products is performed in line with the communicated Work To List (WTL)
- Support the Quality Assurance & Quality Control teams in undertaking structured problem-solving reviews with the production teams so as to reduce the incident/scrap levels produced as part of the MAL Group countdown to zero programme
- Attend and directly support the MRB process including the reconfirmation of any product that has been reviewed with clear facts and report back to all relevant parties
- Review and introduce where necessary all relevant Inspection SOP’s pertaining to product quality
- Work with Quality Assurance / Quality Control teams and Engineering in understanding key customer, international and national standards and how this information is documented and communicated within the Divisional relevant paperwork
- Aid the Quality Assurance / Quality Control teams in the communication of Quality alerts
- Aid the Quality Assurance / Quality Control teams in the communication of containment activities for internal and external concerns
- Collate and maintain data of inspection performance including that of non-conformance
- Work with minimum amount of supervision and maintain good level of productivity
- Positively support teamwork and circulation of experience within the workforce
- Support relevant MOS requirements and actively contribute to any 6S activities on site
- Work in a safe manner in compliance with company Health & Safety policy. Report and log Health & Safety incidents that occur
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by management in support of the business
Skills / Knowledge Requirements
Academic:
- Relevant inspection Quality Assurance / Quality Control qualifications or experience
- GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position within the aerospace or automotive industry sectors
- Competent in the use of measuring equipment
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and inspection reports
- Experience with FAIR desirable
