Location: O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois Industry: Aviation / Aircraft Maintenance Employment Type: Full-Time Company: STS Technical Services STS Technical Services is hiring Lead A&P Mechanics at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. This is a hands-on leadership role supporting aircraft maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair while managing daily workflows, materials, and personnel. If you have deep experience on Boeing aircraft and a passion for leading skilled teams, this role is for you. Position Overview: As a Lead A&P Mechanic, you’ll perform inspections, diagnose technical discrepancies, execute repairs, and provide advanced guidance to other mechanics. You’ll coordinate manpower, tooling, and materials while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and company procedures. Key Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot and repair technical discrepancies on Boeing aircraft
Perform aircraft inspections in accordance with company procedures and FAA guidelines
Use electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools for voltage, amperage, and system navigation
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance documentation
Guide and mentor mechanics on advanced maintenance tasks
Coordinate tooling and material requirements for assigned work shifts
Organize and delegate daily tasks to ensure timely inspection and repair
Communicate discrepancies with Maintenance Control and follow through with proper repairs
Maintain accurate and compliant aircraft documentation
Act as shift lead or manager when required
Perform inventory checks for manuals, aircraft parts, and support tools
Assist with AOG recovery and special projects as needed
Ensure adherence to all safety regulations, shop practices, and cleanliness standards

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification
Minimum 3 years of Line Maintenance experience on Boeing aircraft
At least 1 year of supervisory or lead mechanic experience
Formal training in advanced systems and avionics for Boeing platforms
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital aircraft manuals
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Must be able to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
Valid U.S. driver’s license or passport (ability to travel occasionally if needed)
Ability to work in various weather conditions and on-call as needed for AOG support
