Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for an Inspection Supervisor.
- Full time, permanent position
- Days only shift pattern including weekends
- Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
- Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
The inspection Supervisor will play a key role in leading the improvements and day-to-day activities of the inspection teams.

Essential Responsibilities
Supervise inspectors and their activities day-to-day:
- Manage inspection team holidays/absence and shift coverage with support from production team (cross-functional team training)
- Allocation of duties within inspection team
- Liaise with production team to ensure inspection of products is carried out in line with WTL requirements
- Carry out disciplinary investigations/actions where required
- Provide encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals
- Assist with hiring processes, including conducting recruitment interviews
- Help inspection team members with work related problems or queries
- Ensure working area is maintained in line with company 6S standards
- Raise, communicate and record Quality Alerts/One Point Lessons for the inspection team
- Ensure inspection team follow company policies and all relevant SOPs for their role
- Provide handovers to shifts outside of Monday to Friday day shift
- Support with carrying out inspection as contingency, such as in event of high absence, to support business needs
Maintain inspection equipment:
- Establish inspection tooling requirements for the designated inspection team
- Ensure inspection equipment is available and in good condition in line with the tooling requirements
- Ensure inspection tools are within calibration, remove tools from use and provide to the department Quality Engineer when they are due calibration
Implement inspection standard processes:
- Ensure all inspection SOPs are current and up to date
- Add any long term containment/Quality Alert/One Point Lesson details to relevant inspection SOPs
Train inspection team:
- Train all inspection team members to inspection SOPs
- Train all inspection team members to SOP updates, Quality Alerts or One Point Lessons
- Maintain inspection training records (including individual training records and training matrix)
Manage inspection containment activities:
- Communicate and document containment activity requirements to inspection team
Collate and analyse inspection data for improvement opportunities:
- Collate and maintain data of inspection performance including non-conformances found and rework completed
- Using data identify and implement improvements to inspection/production processes
- Communicate non-conformance and rework performance at daily SQDCP meetings for the production area
Support MRB / NCR / 8D activities:
- Attend daily MRB meeting for the production area
- Support NCR/8D investigations
Position Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English
- Good verbal and written communication
- Similar experience leading inspection activities within a manufacturing environment
Desirable Criteria:
- Interpret engineering reference documentation, including standard and drawings
