Job Description:

The RoleOur Learning and Development (L&D) team operates De Havilland Canada’s Academy, our in-house aircraft manufacturing and assembly training program. Our Academy Instructors prepare our new hires for their future roles across our organization through high quality, comprehensive and hands-on instruction. DHC is experiencing substantial growth, and we are adding to our team through the addition of a Technical Manufacturing and Production Instructor. This is a role for a subject matter expert in avionics, mechanical or structures with the aptitude and interest in teaching and developing others. While experience in instruction is not required, it is considered an asset. More than one individual may be hired from this posting depending on their skill set. This position is for a 40-hour work week A morning and evening shift is available, with shifts to be determined based on successful candidate(s) and aligned to production schedules. Work is performed on-site in Calgary, Alberta.Duties & ResponsibilitiesEmphasize safety and quality: Ensure that safety and quality are emphasized throughout the training. Instruct students on adhering to industry standards, regulations, and best practices to maintain the highest levels of safety and quality in aircraft manufacturing and production.Deliver technical training programs: Support the design and delivery of training programs focused on manufacturing and production processes in the aviation industry. This includes working cross-functionally to create instructional materials, lesson plans, and hands-on training activities aligned with industry’s best practices and regulatory requirements.Facilitate theoretical and practical sessions: Conduct engaging classroom instruction on topics such as aircraft assembly, production techniques, and manufacturing principles. Lead hands-on practical training.Evaluate student progress: Assess student performance through practical assessments, and projects. Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and meet certification or employment standards in the aviation industry.Contribute to curriculum development: Together with their peers, assist in the creation and enhancement of curriculum materials, including workbooks, resources, and training aids. Collaborate in the development of new training courses based on industry demands and emerging technologies.Drive continuous improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and lead improvement initiatives where gaps are identified through metrics and feedback.Qualifications and SkillsAn Aircraft Maintenance Engineer in Avionics, Mechanics or Structures (or military equivalent) OR 10+ years of equivalent years in a relevant position.Practical experience working in a technical, operational role in either an aerospace manufacturing or AMO or MRO environment is required.Strong knowledge of aircraft assembly techniques, materials management, quality control methodologies, and manufacturing principles is required.Aptitude for instructional delivery, with the ability to develop engaging training materials and curricula is important, although prior instructional experience in manufacturing or industrial settings is an asset and not required.Familiarity with e-learning platforms, learning management systems, and training technologies is an asset and not required.Personal AttributesComfortable working in an evolving environment where growth and change is typical.Ability to navigate unstructured environments and be open and willing to help build as we go, such as with new programs, coursework and assessments.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to a diverse range of learners.Demonstrated team player with exemplary interpersonal and relationship building skills.Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships and resolve stakeholder demands.High level of personal integrity with the ability to build trust across all stakeholder groups.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
