Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Master Technician – Level 4 to join our team in Chandler, AZ. This position is 100 onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

   

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Master Technician to support advanced technical tasks, including assembly, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of complex aerospace systems and components. This role requires a highly skilled individual who has demonstrated expertise in a variety of engineering disciplines, a strong ability to lead technical projects, and a track record of mentoring and developing less experienced team members. The Master Technician plays a key role in ensuring the successful integration and readiness of systems that meet or exceed rigorous engineering, quality, and safety standards.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct advanced system and component assembly, disassembly, maintenance, repairs, and testing following specific engineering instructions, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Work on a wide range of tasks—such as cable harness assembly, electrical and mechanical integration, system-level functional testing, and troubleshooting—for hardware designed to meet NASA standards and other space industry requirements.
  • Independently perform diagnostics and resolve technical issues, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Lead and mentor lower-level technicians, providing technical guidance and sharing best practices to develop team knowledge and expertise.
  • Perform thorough inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate directly with engineers on design and manufacturing improvements to streamline workflows and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Support multiple programs and projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet critical deadlines and program schedules.
  • Conduct technical training programs for technicians to enhance skills in areas such as assembly, soldering, wiring, and test.
  • Follow all safety protocols rigorously, including ESD compliance, hazardous material handling, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Document work thoroughly in compliance with internal requirements and provide detailed feedback to help refine processes and designs.
  • Assist in developing and refining standard operating procedures and job aids for technical work.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work in a cleanroom environment and adhere to all safety and contamination protocols.
  • Responsibilities may require working while standing or kneeling for extended time periods, as well as repetitive hand movements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.   
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced assembly, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and working with engineering blueprints, schematics, and other technical documents.
  • Advanced soldering experience and certifications such as J-STD-001 or IPC/WHMA-A-620 compliance.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to NASA and AS9100 standards for quality and safety.
  • Strong experience with test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, or power test systems.
  • Proven ability to independently troubleshoot complex challenges, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of equipment or tools

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Associate’s degree or technical training certification in electrical engineering, electronics, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Cleanroom experience and proficiency working with ESD-sensitive hardware.
  • Knowledge of ordnance work and safety procedures related to aerospace systems.
  • Experience in vehicle integration and system-level testing, including functional testing of launch vehicles or other space/Aerospace hardware.
  • Familiarity with software and tools such as SAP, Teamcenter, or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Previous leadership experience, including mentoring or training technicians and collaborating with engineering staff on design and process improvements.

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $74,500.00 - $124,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
