Security Office- 3rd Shift (12 am-8 am)
We have an opportunity for a part time Security Officer to join our team. The hours for this position will be 12 am - 8:00 am, Saturday and Sundays. This role supports the Corporate Security and Asset Protection organization within the Risk Management, Environmental, Safety, Facilities and Maintenance department in Bloomfield, CT. Working under the direction of the Supervisor, Asset Protection, this position is part of a team that is responsible for providing physical security protection to safeguard personnel and property against fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized entry and other hazards.
- Maintain access control and check for credentials prior to entry
- Greet visitors and check identification prior to signing them in.
- Direct visitors / contractors to appropriate locations and ensure they are escorted
- Issue and retrieve visitor/contractor badges.
- Conduct random vehicles and package inspections, as directed.
- Monitor alarm and camera systems in guard communication center.
- Answer company telephones as required.
- Maintain detailed daily log to record activities.
- Dispatch other personnel to emergency situations or requests for service as required.
- Coordinate response to emergency situations with internal and external response groups
- Conduct patrols of entire campus and off-site buildings as required.
- Respond to alarms, medical emergencies, fire, or other requests for service as required.
- Investigate reported incidents and prepare reports.
- Respond within guidelines and take immediate action in emergency situations.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, communication, verbal, written and customer interaction skills
- Ability to work overtime and long hours with rotational days off
- High level of discretion; position involves routine exposure to proprietary information
- Good organizational skills and attention to details is required
- Ability to handle a fast paced work environment, meet strict time lines and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to survey various situations and take immediate action that complies with established policies and procedures when dealing with emergency situations.
EXPERIENCE
- Prior security/law enforcement/military experience preferred, 1-3 years.
- Demonstrated ability working collaboratively where directives and tasks can change frequently
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with supervision and management along with emergency response personnel.
- Solid knowledge of security alarm and camera systems (desirable)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required).
- Degree in Criminal Justice or related field (preferred)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Infrequent domestic travel may be required.
- Must be able available as needed to rotate hours, shifts, and days off. Work overtime and long hours without relief as needed.
- Requires exposure to all elements of the weather.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate company vehicles.
- Must have own transportation.
- Must be able to receive certification in first aid, CPR, AED, blood borne pathogen training and HAZMAT awareness.
