BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Interpret marking drawings to accurately apply both major and minor interior/exterior aircraft markings and decals.
- Prepare aircraft surfaces by washing, cleaning, sanding, and masking to ensure they are free from contaminants and ready for high-quality painting.
- Utilize various tools such as grinders, sanders, paint guns, and measuring devices to prepare and paint aircraft surfaces, parts, and components.
- Maintain and troubleshoot painting equipment to ensure its operational effectiveness and longevity within the aerospace industry.
- Work in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean, Foreign Object Debris (FOD)-free work area.
- Mission essential functions and other duties may be assigned as required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coats surfaces of aircraft with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft, using liquid paint remover and scraper. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool, roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils.
